File sharing is a very important part of both our professional and personal lives today. No matter which industry we are a part of, file sharing is definitely an essential component of it. With so many different file sharing services available today, how do you determine which one is right for your company? For example, FileCloud and DropBox are two of the top services available in the market today. Which one do you choose? Perhaps if you knew about DropBox vs FileCloud for business file sharing, it would make it easier for you to make a choice? Let’s take a look at the advantages of both these software. That will make it easier for you to determine which one is more suited for your business:

Both FileCloud and Dropbox offer great base of features

* Access: Access is flexible and easy thanks to all the options on offer. You can access it through your desktop, mobile or even online. All you need is a device and internet connection, and you will be able to access files in your DropBox. Using FileCloud, you can access enterprise data securely from just about anywhere in the world with any device. You don’t even need a VPN.

* Sync: Whenever files are added or removed from shared folders, DropBox and FileCloud sync will update everyone instantly. This ensures you always have the latest copy of files.

* Secure file sharing: Create public or private shared folders for files so you can exchange business files securely and easily. You can even send large files through email, conduct secure transfers of files and set up collaboration spaces for files related to projects. FileCloud does a better job in giving controls to limit number of times a file can be downloaded. Everyone just needs to have an account and sharing or adding content becomes easier. Of course, if you want to ensure your files can only be accessed by the people you trust, you can lock folders using passwords too.

DropBox vs FileCloud

* Retrieval: There are sometimes when we face problems handling or managing files. There may be instances when you include essential files in deleted documents. If it happens with other cloud storage, getting the files back is very difficult. But with DropBox, you simply click on the “Undo” button and you’re good to go. Your files will be saved in your DropBox account for 30 days. With FileCloud, you can even retrieve any older  versions of any file incase a file is corrupted or lost.

* Mobile apps: FileCloud and Dropbox both have highly rated apps which provide comprehensive features not to mention remote access to download files, preview documents, share, etc.

FileCloud’s Strength

* Integrate with identity systems and legacy file systems: You will be able to access all your existing Windows or Network Folder shares without having to change existing processes.

* Business, Branding: With FileCloud, your branding will be front and center. The custom domains, login page, user emails, etc. can all be customized just the way you want.

* Data Ownership and Control: With FileCloud, your enterprise data stays within your servers and at point in time, you can export your data with just a click. Given technology needs are constantly changing, having a flexibility to change services and vendors is a huge plus.

* Integration with Outlook/Office: Providing seamless interaction with Office applications is a core value proposition for FileCloud. Its client apps enable integration with Office apps on mobile and PC like no other software.

* Admin tools: You can also deploy and manage thousands of users and millions of files with the Admin portal. Admins get custom workflows, settings, and policies which can manage and control all aspects of user experience. Admin can monitor and even block any devices from accessing files if they see any suspicious activities.

DropBox’s Strength

Dropbox offer great base of features

* Setup and Maintenance: Since Dropbox is a public cloud solution, it is simple to setup and doesn’t require very less effort to manage. Self-hosted solutions such as FileCloud require some additional technical steps to install.

Storage backup: Storing important data and files in various places will help ensure you always have a backup no matter what disasters you encounter. You need an additional storage point, and that’s where DropBox comes into the picture. Dropbox can replicate files and maintain backup automatically. While FileCloud offers all the necessary features for easy and secure backup, you have to set up backup processes and make sure proper disaster recovery protocol is in place.  It is to be noted here that Dropbox is way more expensive a solution though.
