Summer Foods
Summer has finally arrived, and with it comes some fantastic tastes and treats perfect for the scorching season. Whether you’re looking for snacks to hand out around the pool or simply want something delicious to tuck into while enjoying a few rays this summer, The Trending Buzz is here to make sure you have a truly scrumptious summer.
Chilled Summer Soups – Gazpacho
Although soup may be the first thing you think of in the Winter when your nose is running and you’re snuggled up with three or four blankets, it can also be a fantastic snack or meal during summer, especially when it’s been chilled. All you need to make one of these delicious meals is a blender and some fresh vegetables, and they can often go really well with a light sandwich on the side if you’re hoping for something more substantial. Most of the time, Gazpacho will be made with bread-crumbs to give it extra texture and thickness, and it comes absolutely packed with nutrients, as well as being low in calories, too.
Home-Made Snow Cones
Whether you’re looking for a delicious treat to hand out to the kids, or you’re just young at heart yourself, snow cones are a fantastic sunny-afternoon snack, brimming with dozens of different flavours and the delightful cool crunch that can chill you out even on the sweatiest of days. You can usually buy syrup and shaved ice machines within supermarkets or online to make your own at home, and feel free to experiment with different combinations of flavour if you’re feeling a little bit adventurous.
Delicious Fresh Fruit
Perhaps one of the major perks that summer brings is the possibility to dine out on as much fresh, sun-kissed fruits and vegetables as you like. Whatever your fruit-fix, whether you love strawberries dipped in cream, cherries straight off the stem or just a deliciously chilled apple, make sure you wash it over before you get stuck in. Watermelons are particularly in style this year, with many people coming up with new and interesting ways to serve the delicious red fruit, from cups made out of melon to melon ice-cubes and drinks.
Cool Chicken Dishes
When the temperatures are soaring, there is no better meat than Chicken to help you cool down in delicious style. Usually, grilled chicken is the best option, as it can be served hot or cold depending on your, and your family’s appetite and schedule. If you want to try something new, why not have a go at a stunning citrusy marinade made with cilantro and lime, or spice things up with a bit of extra mustard. Remember, keeping cool doesn’t have to be done at the expense of flavour.
